What can I book online?

How soon can I get a visit?

Online bookings need at least 24 hours' notice. For a visit sooner than that, or in the evening, call 0208 226 0205: same-day visits are often possible, and emergencies get priority.

How do arrival windows work?

You choose a morning (8am to 12pm) or afternoon (12pm to 6pm) window. The engineer plans the order of the day's visits and texts 30 to 60 minutes before arriving, so there is no need to wait in all day. You can also ask for a preferred time, which is a request rather than a promise.

Do I pay anything to book?

No. Online bookings need no deposit and there is no payment step. The price is shown before you book.

What happens after I book?

You get a booking reference on screen as soon as you confirm, followed by a confirmation email. On the day, the engineer texts 30 to 60 minutes before arriving.

Yes. Call 0208 226 0205 as early as you can and have your booking reference ready. Late cancellations may be charged, as set out in the service terms.

A basic service is £120 and a full service, with the heat exchanger stripped and cleaned, is £225. Both are fixed prices agreed before the visit.

The first hour is £120 on weekdays, then £100 an hour in 30-minute blocks. Saturdays are £160 then £130, evenings from 6pm to 9pm £180 then £150, and Sundays and bank holidays £220 then £170. Parts are quoted before fitting.

Is the diagnostic charge taken off the repair?

No. The first hour is charged as labour for finding the fault, at the rate for the day of the visit. The repair is quoted separately before any work starts, and if you decide not to go ahead, only the diagnosis is charged.

Servicing, gas safety certificates and the other jobs with a listed price. Breakdowns are charged by the hour, with the repair quoted before work starts, and installations, bathrooms and kitchens get a free survey and a written quote.

The phone line is open 24 hours a day, including weekends and bank holidays, and urgent problems in the evening and at weekends can be attended the same day. Domestic jobs are not attended in the middle of the night: call at 3am and you are talked through making it safe, and the job gets the first slot in the morning.

£180 on weekdays from 8am to 6pm and £220 at other times, covering the first hour on site. Further time is charged at the published labour rate for that time of day, and parts are quoted before they are fitted.

Don't wait for an appointment. Open windows and doors, don't touch electrical switches, and call the National Gas Emergency line free on 0800 111 999 straight away. Once it has been made safe, call InstaGasWorks on 0208 226 0205 to put it right.

£79 for one appliance and £35 for each extra one, so a flat with a boiler and a gas hob is £114. With a basic boiler service on the same visit it is £170.

The Landlord Gas Safety Record is emailed to you the same day as the check. Remember to give your tenants a copy within 28 days.
