About InstaGasWorksHonest advice, quality workmanship, fair prices
InstaGasWorks Plumbing & Heating is a small Gas Safe registered team covering South London, founded by an engineer who wanted to run the kind of company he would be happy to call himself — one where customers get straight answers, are never pressured into work they don't need, and know the price before anyone picks up a tool.

How we got here
Years on the tools before there was ever a company name
01
On the building sites
Our founder, Christopher, started out as an independent plumber working on building sites, learning the trade hands-on and building a proper working understanding of plumbing and heating systems — the kind you only get from doing the work rather than reading about it.
02
Alongside British Gas
He went on to work alongside British Gas, adding years of experience across boiler breakdowns, servicing, repairs and installations — on the full range of makes, models and ages of appliance a London home can throw at an engineer.
03
On our own terms
After years in the industry he set up InstaGasWorks, to run the kind of company he would want to call himself: customers treated with respect, never pressured into unnecessary work, and always given honest advice about what actually needs doing.

Keeping the cost of a repair reasonable
With the cost of living where it is, what a repair or an installation costs matters more than it used to. Our aim is a simple one: reliable plumbing and heating for homeowners and landlords at fair prices, without cutting a single corner on quality or on safety.
Boiler repairs, annual servicing, full installations, landlord gas safety certificates, emergency plumbing and heating faults — every job is finished to the same professional standard, whatever it cost. Our reputation is built on being trusted, and most of our work still arrives because somebody told a neighbour.
Because great service shouldn't come with a premium price.
Why people call us instead
What a small team actually changes
Plenty of large national companies do competent work. What they cannot easily do is the four things below — and for most people those four are the entire difference between a job they were happy with and one they still complain about.
You get an engineer, not a script
Call us and you are talking to the people who do the work. There is no call centre between you and the engineer, and nobody reading your problem off a decision tree before deciding whether it is worth sending someone.
Nobody here has an upsell target
We tell you what needs doing and — just as often — what doesn't. If a repair will see your boiler through a few more winters, we will say so rather than quote you for a replacement you don't yet need.
The price is published before we start
Our prices are on this website where you can read them in your own time, not produced on the doorstep once your heating is already in pieces. There is no fee just to come out and quote.
The same standard at both ends of the price list
A dripping tap gets the same Gas Safe registered attention as a full boiler installation. Small jobs are not something we squeeze in badly between the profitable ones.
Every price we charge is published on our services and prices page, and how we charge for anything that isn't on that list is set out in full on our rates page.
Questions people ask before they book
- Are InstaGasWorks Gas Safe registered?
- Yes. InstaGasWorks Plumbing and Heating Ltd is on the Gas Safe Register under registration number 916923. Gas Safe registration is a legal requirement for anyone working on gas appliances in the UK, and you can check our record directly on the register rather than taking our word for it. We are also a registered company in England and Wales, company number 16834283.
- Are you a national company or a local one?
- We are a small local team based on Mitcham Lane in SW16, covering South London and the surrounding boroughs. That is a deliberate choice rather than a stage we are hoping to grow out of: it is what lets us answer the phone ourselves, keep our prices below what the large national firms charge, and turn down work we don't think a customer needs.
- Will I deal with the same engineer every time?
- We are a small team, so you deal with people who already know your property and your boiler rather than a rota of subcontractors who have never seen it. Whoever comes out is Gas Safe registered and works to the same standard, and if you have had us before we will have the history of the job on file.
- Do you charge to come out and quote?
- No. There is no call-out fee simply to come out and look at a job, and surveys and written quotes on larger work are free. Diagnostic and emergency call-outs are a published fixed price rather than an open-ended fee, and you are told which applies before an engineer sets off — never afterwards. Our rates page sets all of this out in full.
- Do you work with landlords as well as homeowners?
- Yes. Alongside homeowner work we handle landlord gas safety certificates (CP12), annual servicing, boiler repairs and emergency call-outs across managed and privately let properties. Certificates are issued on the day and emailed to you.
Tell us what's wrong and we'll tell you what it costs
No call-out fee to come and look, no pressure, and a price agreed before anything starts. We cover South London seven days a week, with emergency call-out around the clock.
