Connecting a gas hob or cooker is gas work, and by law it has to be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer. InstaGasWorks fits gas hobs and cookers across South London: the old appliance disconnected, the new one connected and the installation tested for gas tightness before the engineer leaves.
The price depends on how far the new appliance sits from the gas supply. A straight swap onto the existing gas point is £120, and one that needs up to 1m of new pipe is £150. Moving the gas point further is quoted after a look.
£120
Your new gas hob or cooker fitted in place of the old one, on the same gas point.
£150
When the new appliance sits a little further from the gas point, with up to 1m of new pipe.
Free quote
A new position across the kitchen, or a run longer than 1m, is quoted before any work starts.
The prices cover fitting and testing. The hob or cooker itself is not included.
Connecting any gas appliance is legally restricted to a Gas Safe registered engineer. You can check the registration on the Gas Safe Register before the visit.
The old hob or cooker is disconnected safely and the gas supply capped while the new one goes in.
The new appliance is connected and the gas installation is tested for tightness, so there are no leaks at the new joints.
Every burner is lit and checked, and you are shown how the appliance works, before the job is signed off.
Step 1
The make and model of the new appliance, and a photo of where the old one connects, help confirm the price before the visit.
Step 2
Request a visit from this page or call 0208 226 0205. Have the new appliance delivered before the visit.
Step 3
The old appliance is disconnected, the new one connected, and the installation tested for gas tightness.
Step 4
Burners are lit and checked, and the controls explained, before the engineer leaves.

No. Connecting a gas hob or cooker is gas work, and the law requires it to be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer. It is also the safe choice: a leak at a new joint is the risk the tightness test is there to rule out.
A straight swap onto the existing gas point is £120. If the new appliance needs up to 1m of new gas pipe, it is £150. Moving the gas point further than that is quoted before any work starts. The prices cover fitting and testing; the appliance itself is not included.
Yes. A small move with up to 1m of new pipe is £150. A new position across the kitchen needs a longer pipe run, which is quoted after a look. If the whole kitchen is being refitted, the gas work is best done before the worktops go in.
Yes, a disconnection on its own can be arranged, with the gas supply capped safely. Call 0208 226 0205 for a price.
